Offer #5 is dead! We just heard that the bank has accepted another offer. Apparently someone put in a full asking price offer. It will never, ever, ever appraise for anything near that price so it seems that they are taking a strategy of offering that amount now and then negotiating down to the market value once the appraisal comes back.
The good news (well kind of good) is that I am already stalking #6. Since when did house buying become a sport? There is another foreclosure in the same neighborhood that has not listed yet, but will list in the next week or so. We are trying to see it now before it is actually listed. If we like it, I am thinking that we should use a similar approach of being overly aggressive in our offer and then relying on the appraisal to balance out the final sales price.
